TO FALL OUT OF THE GENERAL RHYTHM

the man looking like a homeless person entered a half-empty trolleybus.
scrubby, untidy, a little bewildered
he began to count his coins when the conductor approached
it looked pathetic and unpleasant
maybe it wouldn’t be so striking
if was not happening in the center of city
among decently dressed people
hurrying for their business or strolling around
turned on clothes and gadgets
tired of the technological pursuit to happiness
and this man seemed to fall out of the general rhythm
he is like something otherworldly
like a shaggy monster in the backyard of cafe from Mulholland Drive
but his not fitting to the catalog of banal lines of modern people
makes me respect him
even if it’s not an active protest
this is something what distinguishes him from tired people spending their days making money
to spend them for stupid surrogates of happiness
